The Morgan State University Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Alumni Chapter awards scholarships to eligible high school students who have been accepted to the University, as well as to undergraduate students currently attending Morgan State University.

This scholarship is named in honor of Vestah W. Blye, a proud member of the Morgan State University Class of 1939. She was a charter member of the chapter and served the Morgan's Alumni Association for more than 50 years, both as a member of the Board of Directors and as a dedicated alumna.

The scholarship celebrates her outstanding commitment, service, and dedication to advancing the mission and ideals of the chapter, as well as her many volunteer efforts in support of the University’s educational mission.

Eligibility

All applicants must be either current Morgan State University students or graduating seniors from a Metropolitan Washington, DC area high school who have been accepted to Morgan for the current school year.

The student must also meet the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen of the United States or permanent resident with a valid visa.

  • Be a resident of Washington, DC, or from areas bordering the city (Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, Arlington County, or the City of Alexandria).

  • Be a full-time student who has maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to community service by providing details of volunteer activities.
